I use a range of evidence-based approaches to help you make meaningful and lasting change. My work brings together two key strands: trauma processing and belief-based therapy.
If you’ve experienced trauma or distressing life events that continue to affect you, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) can be a powerful way to unlock and process those memories. EMDR helps the brain to integrate “stuck” experiences so that the emotional charge lessens and you can move forward with greater calm and clarity.
Alongside this, my main therapeutic foundation is Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) — a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). REBT is based on the idea that we are not disturbed by events themselves, but by the beliefs we hold about those events. When we hold rigid or unrealistic demands about ourselves, others, or the world, we can become stuck in unhealthy negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, or anger.
Through REBT, I guide clients to:
- Understand and make sense of their emotional responses.
- Identify and challenge the unhelpful beliefs that fuel those emotions.
- Replace them with more flexible, realistic ways of thinking and behaving.
Whether you’re processing trauma through EMDR or working to strengthen resilience and self-acceptance through REBT, our work together is goal-focused, practical, and aimed at helping you live with greater freedom and peace of mind.
Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy helps people change their negative thoughts to improve how they feel and act. It's about turning unhealthy beliefs into positive ones. This method of therapy is effective in managing emotional distress and promoting personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy teaches people to identify and change unhelpful thoughts and actions. It's a practical approach to solve problems and feel better. Through this method, individuals learn coping strategies that have lasting positive effects on mental health.
Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing involves recalling distressing events while receiving bilateral sensory input, like side-to-side eye movements. This method helps individuals heal from trauma, extreme anxiety and phobias.
Wherever it is beneficial to do so, I will draw upon techniques from other therapy models.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique using guided relaxation and focused attention to access a trance-like state, helping clients explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, reduce distress, and support positive change.
Emotional Freedom Technique is a self-help method combining gentle fingertip tapping on acupressure points with focused statements to reduce emotional distress, reframe thoughts, and promote a sense of calm.
Coaching is a useful way of developing skills and boosting performance or helping people make significant decisions in their work or their life more generally. The aim is to help people to deal with problems they are stuck on before they become major issues.
Counselling provides a supportive environment to discuss and explore feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. It helps individuals make positive changes in their lives.
This practice involves focusing the mind and being fully present in the moment. It's used to reduce stress, improve concentration, and promote overall well-being.
